If Your Dog Is Struggling in Parkland, You're Not Alone.
Every week I work with dog owners in Parkland dealing with the same frustrations:
— Walks that feel like battles
— Dogs that lunge, bark, and pull at everything in sight
— Adopted dogs that won't settle, won't trust, or won't stop testing boundaries
— Dogs that have already been through training — and are still a problem
If any of that sounds familiar, you're not dealing with a bad dog. You're dealing with a dog that hasn't had the right help yet.
That's exactly what I fix. In your home. In your neighborhood. Where the behavior actually happens.
A Real Parkland Story — Sandy

I want to tell you about Sandy.
Sandy is a Chow Shepperd mix adopted by a family in the Miralago at Parkland neighborhood. When they brought her home, they thought they were getting a dog that needed some basic training. What they didn't expect was how quickly the entire energy of their home changed.
Walks were chaotic. Sandy barked and exploded at people passing by the fence. The stress spread through the household — even the other dogs in the home started feeling the tension.
They reached out to me — Avi Kornblum, founder of Affordable Compassionate Dog Training and certified shelter dog specialist — after searching for someone who understood adopted dogs and what was really happening with Sandy.
It was not aggression. Not dominance.
It was Fear.
Like so many adopted dogs that come from difficult backgrounds, Sandy was insecure, overwhelmed, and felt like she had to manage a world that didn't feel safe to her yet. She wasn't trying to dominate anyone. She was trying to survive a world she didn't yet trust.
From the very first session I took a completely different approach than what most trainers would have done. No prong collar. No e-collar. No harsh corrections. Instead we focused on building confidence, creating trust, and teaching Sandy that the humans in her life were safe, calm, and in control of the situation — so she didn't have to be.
The results came quickly.
In the very first session Sandy stopped going crazy at people walking by the fence. With each session her threshold expanded, her confidence grew, and the chaos began giving way to calm.
By session five — the breakthrough session — Sandy was a different dog.
The pulling stopped. The lunging faded. Walks through Miralago at Parkland became something her family actually enjoyed. The home became peaceful again. And most importantly Sandy was finally able to relax and become the sweet, loving dog her family always hoped she could be.
So many reactive adopted dogs are not trying to dominate the world. They're trying to survive it. And when they finally feel safe — everything changes.
